Scout Leaders from Germany Visit Greater New York Councils

In early August four leaders from Germany on their way home from the World Scout Jamboree at the Bechtel Summit Reserve were welcomed with home hospitality by our International Representative Patricia Bain and her husband Tom.

Stephen Albrecht from Denklingen, Philipp Brubach from Koblenz, Klara Sitter from Matzenbach, and Fiona Walker-Fredericks from Kiel spent four days in New York before heading to Boston and then back home to Germany. Stephen, Philipp and Klara worked in the German Foodhouse and Fiona was on staff at Gateway Village.

These Scouters enjoyed their stay in New York, visiting Staten Island, Brooklyn, the 9/11 Memorial, and Liberty and Ellis Islands, as well as Harlem, the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center. They also managed to get in a Broadway show and enjoyed a picnic in Central Park.

Patricia and Tom hosted them for a farewell dinner and were presented with German patches from the Jamboree as well as German “Neckers”! “It was wonderful to have them visit us and we enjoyed their enthusiasm about all things Scouting and the joy they felt at being able to visit the USA. We were sorry they couldn’t stay longer” said Pat.
