January 15, 2021
We hope you will join us in congratulating Ethan Draddy on his upcoming retirement. His last day is January 15. He spent 33 years in Scouting as a professional, and nearly eight years as the Scout Executive for the Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of New York.
“It has been my distinct privilege to work with all of you on behalf of New York City kids. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity I have had to help young people, from New Jersey, to Indianapolis, to Baltimore, and here in New York City.”
While in New York Ethan created a more robust Board of Directors, helping to recruit 58 new members. He oversaw major capital projects such as the Billy & Keith Johnson Scout Center.
We are holding a virtual farewell celebration for Ethan on January 29 at 5pm. A book containing photos and words of congratulations, that will be presented to Ethan, is being prepared and we need your help. Please visit www.bsa-gnyc.org/ethan to rsvp for the virtual celebration and/or upload any photos or messages for the book. Please respond by January 22. We hope to gather at an in-person event in the fall of safety guidelines allow.
Our Board of Directors has named Richard Davies as our incoming Chief Executive Officer. A lifelong Scouter, Dick served as the National Explorer President, as a youth, and has served on our GNYC Executive Board for 18 years. He is currently our Commissioner. Dick’s experience in business will help guide us during these challenging times. He served as Senior Managing Director and Global Director of Defined Contribution and Multi-Asset Business Development at Alliance Bernstein, and currently is an independent consultant and Advisory Board Member at RealBlocks. We will be sharing more with you soon as we welcome Dick to his new role.
